UF Emergency Medicine

Overview of Program

Mission and Vision

Mission:

This program will cultivate outstanding emergency physician leaders through individualized mentorship, unique leadership experiences, and robust research opportunities. Fellows will work in a dynamic clinical environment and gain exposure to all aspects of emergency department (ED) operations and administration while delivering high-quality patient care.

Vision:

Our fellows will gain the abilities to positively impact the complex challenges facing healthcare today and excel in a leadership role immediately after graduation.

Goals and Purpose

The purpose of establishing an administrative fellowship is to train EPs to expert levels in all aspects of administration and develop the managerial competencies to successfully lead a Department of Emergency Medicine. To combine formal executive leadership training with ED specific management experiences to allow achievement in a competitive health care environment, academic enrichment and personal leadership development.

Eligibility

This program accepts one fellow each academic year. Residency training in Emergency Medicine must be from an ACGME accredited program and completed by the time of matriculation. Once a letter of offer is extended, employment will be contingent on a positive result from a criminal background screening, procurement/maintenance of a Florida Medical License, ability to meet requirements for appointment as a Faculty member and successful matriculation into the MBA program.
